Most Registered Investment Advisory firms charge fees as a percentage of assets under management (AUM). While we believe this approach is fair for clients, it does have some disadvantages such as reduced transparency and unintended conflicts of interest. It's often more effective to have an advisor manage all of a client's assets on their platform (and charge AUM fees), but there are some circumstances where this is not the best solution for the client.
Common examples include:
maximizing interest on cash reserves on a risk-adjusted basis
advice surrounding whether to take money out of your portfolio to pay off a mortgage or invest in a rental real estate property
401(k) plan considerations such as IRA rollovers
advanced tax planning strategies related to IRA conversions.
At Libra, we like being different and so do our clients. We charge a fixed annual fee, determined on a client-by-client basis. This approach eliminates unnecessary conflicts of interest. This fee model truly reflects the value that we offer. Factors considered in setting the fixed fee generally include the complexity of the client’s financial situation, level of investable assets, and estimated time involved. Our fixed fees are intended to be competitive with what clients might expect to pay under an “assets under management” (AUM) approach (assuming all investable assets were managed). However, because of our integrated tax planning and thoughtful design of our investment portfolios (low cost and tax efficient), we're confident that it will be difficult to match our value.
Some clients may not want or need the full-service, Personal CFO package. Self-directed clients who are comfortable executing their own investment strategy may benefit from Libra’s stand-alone Financial Planning Services.
You may choose to engage the services of Libra Wealth either at a fixed fee or at an hourly rate of $250. During a complimentary call, we will discuss your situation and determine which is more appropriate for your needs.
